The Wawa Medical Group is recruiting Family Physicians to join our team. Our physicians practice at the Wawa Family Health Team as well as the Lady Dunn Health Centre, located under one roof in Wawa, Ontario. The job consists of 3-4 days of family medicine clinic at the FHT, and 1-2 days per week of call. Physicians round on their inpatients each weekday morning (typically 1-3 patients) in the adjoining hospital. Call consists of 24 hour shifts covering our low-volume emergency department (10-20 patients per day). We have excellent specialist support in Sault Ste Marie and Sudbury.

Other opportunities include long term care, palliative care, home visits, minor procedures, memory clinic, and monthly clinics in our satellite communities. We are a teaching site for the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, with frequent opportunities to work with residents and medical students.

There are elementary and secondary schools from both Public and Catholic boards providing instruction in English and French. City amenities and airports aren’t far away, as we are located 2 hours north of Sault Ste Marie and 5 hours southeast of Thunder Bay.

Remuneration

Physicians in our group work under an RNPGA model, splitting funds based on hours of clinical work and amount of on-call shifts worked. Very competitive overhead ranges from 12-16%.
