Local Employers – COVID-19

A Note To Local Employers – COVID-19

March 16, 2020

Dear Local Employers:

Due to the current and impending COVID-19 pandemic, we will be making temporary changes in the way we deliver healthcare to residents from our catchment area. Our goal is to minimize potential exposure to as many people as possible, while freeing up resources to attend to those who require urgent care

Starting immediately – we will no longer be booking appointments for OFF-WORK NOTES, or any non-essential routine appointments which include but are not limited too; routine or work-related physicals, wart treatments, work spirometry testing, etc.

Please do not direct your employees to contact the Clinic to schedule these types of appointments.  If any of your employees have an appointment as described above scheduled currently, they will be contacted to cancel or postpone their appointment.

If your employees are off work, please trust that it is because they have been asked to stay away from work and workplaces, and we would hope that your organization will make every effort to create “work from home” opportunities for such employees.  The Wawa Family Health Team will do our best to provide advice to employees about when they can safely return to work in as timely a way as possible.

In order to help reduce the spread of the virus – we ask for YOUR help as local employers.

Please advise your employees that if they have respiratory symptoms (cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat, difficulty breathing), have travelled outside of the country, or have had contact with someone with respiratory symptoms and travel, to STAY HOME, and call Public health 705-759-5404 or 1-866-892-0172 x 5404 for further direction.

PLEASE ADVISE THEM TO NOT ATTEND OUR CLINIC WITHOUT INSTRUCTION IN THIS CASE.

As a community, our responsibility at this time is to minimize the virus spread and the impending impact on our healthcare system.  We also ask that you advise your employees to NOT attend the EMERGENCY ROOM unless it is a clear EMERGENCY.  There are other modes of testing if they are concerned they have contracted the virus.

Please advise your employees to watch the Wawa Family Health Team Facebook page for continued updates, information and guidance.

Regards,
Silvana Dereski
